Jores “JD” Peters

Coach Peters has over 25 years of wrestling experience, as both college athlete and as a coach. He was previously a coach at Imperial High school in the Imperial Valley for several years and is currently a coach at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego. He has had the privilege to have coached numerous CIF champions, Masters placers, and State Qualifiers. Several of the athletes he has coached have gone on to have successful college wrestling careers.He has a big picture focus on athlete development and uses evidence based practices in his coaching and athlete development.

Professional Certifications:

  • USA Wrestling Certified Teal (Coaching women and girls in wrestling)

  • USA Wrestling Certified Bronze coach.

Requirements

To protect athletes and maintain trust, all coaches/volunteers must complete:

  • Background check (required)

  • SafeSport training

  • Basic code of conduct + athlete safety policies

Paid Coaching Roles (Part-Time)

Ideal for experienced coaches who can lead groups, teach fundamentals, and create a high-energy, structured practice environment.

Typical responsibilities:

  • Lead technique instruction (beginner to intermediate)

  • Run organized drills + live wrestling safely

  • Reinforce sportsmanship and team culture

  • Communicate with head coach on athlete development

  • Help with tournaments (optional)

Compensation depends on experience, role, and frequency.

Volunteer Coaches & Practice Helpers & Board Members

Perfect for former wrestlers, parents, college athletes, or community members who want to give back.

You might help by:

  • Assisting with drills and small groups

  • Partnering athletes safely during instruction

  • Helping keep practices organized and moving

  • Mentoring athletes through encouragement and example

  • Supporting events, weigh-ins, or check-in (optional)

  • Joining our Board to help direct and grow the club
